Batelco announces that from Wednesday 20th September, existing and future Mobile customers can purchase special post paid mobile numbers via a transparent process, and the proceeds of these sales will all be donated to various charities in Bahrain.
All of Batelco’s special post paid mobile numbers have been divided into two categories, Platinum numbers and Gold numbers. Platinum numbers are those numbers which are highly sought after, such as those with five digits repeated consecutively. Gold numbers, such as those with at least three repeated digits or with an identifiable sequence, will be sold at various prices.
Periodically, and subject to availability, Batelco will advise customers of it’s plan to hold an auction for platinum numbers. Customers will be able to submit their bids through the web site, or via a dedicated SMS number. All bids will be anonymous and the bids will be opened in the presence of an Auditor. Customers who have placed bids will be informed of the outcome of their bid, in writing within 10 days of the closing date of the bidding. This process will also be subject to audit reviews by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (the ).
Gold numbers will be available on a first come first serve basis at all of Batelco’s retail outlets. Business customers can also contact their Account Managers.
Batelco has introduced this publicly transparent process to cater for the growing demand for special numbers from all customers and to further assist Bahraini charities. All customers with existing Platinum and Gold numbers will not be charged for the numbers they currently have.
