Batelco’s Prepaid Card is an innovative service that offers customers greater versatility and convenience in telecommunications.

The service, which was launched in February 1998 enables customers to pay in advance for local and international calls made from any touch tone phone in Bahrain and over 40 countries around the world.

The rates for using the prepaid card are as follows:

 

	Calling Card Rates From a Normal Fixed Line: Local Calls 20 Fils per min International Calls Normal IDD Rates (Depending on the country called) For Mobile phones: Local Calls Peak Time - 50 Fils per minute | Off peak - 35 Fils per minute International Calls Normal IDD Rates (Depending on the country called)

The prepaid card value is specified in Bahraini Dinars. Cards are available in 3,5 and 10 Bahraini Dinars. The number of Dinars corresponding to a one-minute value of calling varies, depending on the call’s point of origination and termination. When the card is in use, the value in Dinars keeps reducing, until the amount is completely utilised. Batelco’s prepaid card system automatically calculates and informs the customers of the value remaining on the card before the customers start their calls. Advanced warning is also given when the value of the card is about the expire.

In order to use the prepaid card, the customer needs to simply dial 17 808888 if he is in Bahrain. If overseas, the customer needs to dial the Bahrain Direct access number depending on the country the customer is in and follows the voice instructions. The Bahraindirect access numbers may be obtained from Batelco’s Customer Service Centre.
