Batelco, in line with its efforts to provide employees with an interactive platform for the exchange of knowledge, recently held its monthly session of ‘Batelco Talks’ at Batelco Headquarters in Hamala. The session featured Shaikh Mohamed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Senior Manager, Business Development – ICT at the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) who delivered a talk on the latest ICT industry updates.

Commenting on the occasion, Batelco Chief Human Resources Officer Faisal Al Jalahma said “Batelco Talks plays an integral role as part of our strategy towards enriching Batelco employees’ knowledge in the trending topics of ICT, the FinTech ecosystem, telecommunications, technology, and digital transformation.”

During his talk on the EDB’s view and support of the MENA ICT Sector, Shaikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa noted the rapid shifts towards digitalization across both the public and private sectors in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), as consumer consumption of content and purchasing behaviour increasingly become digitally focused. He also covered the role of Bahrain EDB in supporting Bahrain in its ICT growth and development journey and discussed the excellent opportunities available in key areas including Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Gaming and E-Commerce. The session also presented comprehensive figures relating to the potential opportunities for technology and data focused companies.

“From the rollout of 5G and the launch of AWS to the first global esports final in Bahrain, 2019 was the year that all the supportive infrastructure –both soft and hard – fell into place for Bahrain to make the transition from a rapidly developing to a matured, world-class tech ecosystem,” Shaikh Mohamed said.

‘Batelco Talks’ are delivered by industry leaders in order to keep employees up to date with the latest technologies, trends and new concepts in the business field. The high participation at the session reflected the interest of Batelco’s employees in educational events aimed at enhancing their knowledge and expanding their horizons and perspective, particularly in the field of ICT, telecommunications, technology, digital transformation and growth.
